Homemade Paleo Gummies

My kids love these homemade paleo gummies, we’ve been making them since they were small so it’s been quite some time. You’ll be surprised at just how easy it is to make healthy homemade gummies. Once you make a batch I guarantee you’ll never go back to store-bought. Take a look at the ingredients of store bought gummies the next time you are in the candy aisle of the grocery store and you’ll see loads of sugar and artificial colors, definitely ingredients you want to avoid. I am sure this will give you the incentive to make gummies at home.

These gummies are a “treat” for adults or kids that you can really feel good about serving. They are fairly low in sugar and provide a good source of collagen which helps to support healthy hair, skin, nails, joints, and bones.

Why You’ll Love These Paleo Gummies

  • Way better than store bought.
  • Fast and easy to prepare.
  • Easily customizable.

Ingredients To Make Paleo Gummies

  • Organic Fruit Juice – I used one cup of juice, you can use any flavor you like; grape, cherry, cranberry or pomegranate. Or even carrot juice!
  • Lemon juice – I used two tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Don’t use bottled lemon juice.
  • Honey – You’ll only need 1/4 tsp depending how sweet your juice is.
  • Gelatin – I used 4 tablespoons of gelatin.

Equipment

  • silicone mold
  • medium sized saucepan

How To Make Gummies

  • Pour the gelatin into the bottom of a medium sized saucepan
  • Pour the fruit or vegetable juice and lemon juice over the gelatin and using a fork, mix well. It will make a thick paste- just keep mixing until there are no lumps.
  • Heat the mixture over a low flame until the mixture “melts” and becomes clear.
  • Pour the mixture into gummy bear or other silicone molds. It will be easier to transfer from the saucepan to a small pitcher or measuring cup with a “pour” spout.
  • To speed up the cooling and hardening process you can put your molds in the refrigerator until cool. It should take around 2 hours.
  • Once the gummy shapes have cooled and hardened, pop them out of the molds.

Storage

These gummies will keep in a jar or other container in the refrigerator for about a week (if they last that long!)

Pro Tips

Here are a few things you can do to make sure your gummies tastes great every time you make them.

  • Don’t compromise on the fridge time. The gummies need time to solidify.
  • Add small chunks of fresh fruit, ginger or a dash of turmeric for added flavor.
  • Make your own fruit puree instead of using store bought juice.
  • Buy gelatin that is made from grass fed cows.
