My Valentine Gift to you- all the things I am loving right now, curated just for you!❤️
Wellness and Sustainability are the two words always on my mind lately. I want to share with you the things that I am learning and the products and services that I love and deserve your attention. I have done the reading and research and testing so you can save time and money. Going forward, I plan to make this a monthly blog post and this is the debut issue!
Our Week-Long Seasonal Detox was a tremendous success with more than 20 participants, including 3 people who had never done a detox before.
Feedback like this always makes me smile:
“I’m happy with the changes, I am down 7 pounds and feel better”
“I’ve always wanted to do a detox but didn’t know where to start”
“The detox reminded me to slow down and be more mindful”
“This has been such a wonderful experience to be on the detox. It hasn’t been easy but it was worth it and I’d love to do the next detox with you!”
Our next detox will be April 4th mark your calendars- we would love to have you join us! If you are curious about the details, find more information here.
Our favorite recipes of January:
A big hit and they taste amazing with blueberries too!
As was the super easy one pan Shakshuka Cod made with the freshest fish from Real Good Fish (use code Beth Bollinger to get $10 off)
I am loving my new GreenPans – for Christmas I received the 8″ and 10″ skillets. I love that they are completely non-toxic and non-stick, super well made with a ceramic coating. They are great for eggs, quesadillas, pancakes and roasting garlic and are oven safe to 600 degrees.
“Made by cooks for cooks, Craft Steel nonstick skillets do everything you thought nonstick couldn’t—sear, braise, deglaze and more—giving you rich, sumptuous flavors dish after dish.
Each skillet has a tri-ply stainless steel body with an Evershine finish specially formulated to prevent discoloration and keep your cookware looking new for longer. Snag-free interiors coated with an extremely durable and ultra-conductive diamond-infused ceramic nonstick”
Continuous Glucose Monitor
I continue to be mindful of glycemic load when I create recipes to share. Dr. B is still wearing a CGM and we are monitoring how different foods affect his blood glucose levels.
If you are curious about wearing a CGM or just want to know more, check out some of the great Levels Health articles like this one “110 Foods Unlikely to Spike your Blood Sugar”. If you are curious about wearing a CGM yourself, get in touch (707) 806-8084. I do have coupons from a couple different companies to offer you.
I get asked all the time about prepared meals for those of you that want to eat healthy but don’t have time to cook. While cooking at home is always the healthiest option, we have been trying out some new meal delivery services for long work days and also for Dr. B to take to the hospital for lunch.
I am really loving CookUnity meals but if you order, make sure you designate “paleo” because some of their other options do contain seed oils (I am working on them!) My favorite meals have been Salmon with Avocado and Cucumber, Shrimp Scampi and Grilled Herb Steak. Everything arrives perfectly prepared and the packaging is recyclable. The meals are roughly $10.50 each, so definitely less than a restaurant meal. I love them so much that I have gifted my daughter and son-in-law a subscription as well.
With citrus season is full swing here in California, my juicer is getting a workout and so are my arms. I received this juicer as a wedding gift 28 years ago when we lived in Pasadena and had loads of citrus trees.
I recently found the same one for sale and was excited to share it with you! Make my Easy Paleo Lemon Curd with all those lemons (those of you in California know what I am talking about!)
Sustainability and Regenerative Farming
Sustainability and Regenerative Farming have been on my mind. I have enjoyed the movie “Kiss the Ground” available on Netflix, as well as the audiobook “Dawn Again” by Regenerative Rancher Doniga Markegard.
We are making a concerted effort to buy only sustainably sourced seafood and have loved Real Good Fish they are offering you $10 off when you use code Beth Bollinger!
We are getting our meats from Wild Pastures and they are offering you a $20 coupon when you order, no coupon required. All grass-fed and finished, pasture-raised and regeneratively raised meats- their flat iron steaks and their pork pot roast have been my favorites.
If you are in Sonoma or Marin County, I encourage you to subscribe to FEED Sonoma, a collective of regenerative farms that have curated a produce box for pickup or delivery. Learn more at www.feedsonoma.com.
I have also been renting clothing from Rent the Runway which feels more sustainable than buying new- especially for special occasion dresses or winter/ski clothes. I rented the gorgeous green silk dress that I wore to my daughter’s wedding and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Rent the Runway is offering you a special price of 40% off to give it a try!
Books I have loved this month:
Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and I have my eye on these kitchen gadgets:
I will leave you with my favorite afternoon beverage lately- my lazy version of a Matcha Latte. I am loving this matcha powder. Here is a little tutorial on my “lazy” matcha latte method that is dairy free and won’t spike your blood sugar!
Be well and Happy Valentine’s month❤️
