In a medium skillet, over medium heat, melt the fat, and sauté the mushrooms, onion and garlic for 3 to 5 minutes, or until soft.
Combine the meat, salt, pepper, hemp hearts, egg, chili pepper, thyme, oregano and Worcestershire sauce in a large bowl. Mix well, breaking up the meat and incorporating the spices. Add the sautéed mushroom mixture, taking care to evenly distribute them to ensure that the loaf bonds well and does not fall apart.
Divide the meat mixture into 2 “loaf” shapes and spread the ketchup on the top and sides of the meat “loaves”
Bake in the oven for 55-60 minutes.
