Easy Homemade Nut Butter

Beth Bollinger of Nest Wellness
You won't believe how easy it is to make homemade nut butter! Make this recipe once and you may never buy store bought nut butter again. Store bought nut butters can be tricky to navigate. Even some of the "healthiest" brands of nut butter contain added oils, sugar and other additives that truly aren't necessary for a creamy, delicious and healthy nut butter.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups nuts, organic choose walnuts, cashews, peanuts, macadamia nuts, brazil nuts, pecans or your favorite combination!
  • 1-2 tbsp coconut oil melted, optional

Instructions

  • Add the nuts to the bowl of the food processor and blend until creamy and smooth. You may need to scrape the sides of the bowl down occasionally. Be patient as it will take several minutes for the oils in the nuts to be released and the nut butter to become creamy.
  • Optional: if your nut butter is too dry, add a tablespoon at a time of melted coconut oil until your nut butter is the consistency that you like.
  • Optional: experiment with combos and spices!
for example: pecans with 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice or a combination of cashews and cardamom or peanut butter and cinnamon, or how about brazil nuts, macadamia nuts and basil seeds? The possibilities are endless now that you know how easy it is to make your own nut butter!
